Shirley Richardson Lee, 89, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013. She was a longtime member of the Central United Methodist Church in Salem, and served as a volunteer at the Salem Food Pantry, the RAM House, and the Rescue Mission. She enjoyed ballroom and line dancing in her spare time, and loved her family very much, especially her grandson and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lonza Thomas and Bertha Annie Richardson; husband, Ray Ford Lee; sisters, Rae Hopkins, Haven Cumbie, and Daisy Trent; 4 brothers; and an infant son. Her surviving family includes her daughter, Becky Lee Tate and husband, Jim; grandson, Brian Doud and wife, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Charlotte, and Thomas Doud as well as one boy on the way; many nieces and nephews; and very best friend, Jeanette Carter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the South Roanoke Nursing Home as well as Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate and loving care. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will then be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Central United Methodist Church with interment following at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev.
