Shirley Jane Kingery

Shirley Jane Kingery, 74, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. She was a very strong and caring person who was truly an inspiration to all, and her family recognized her as the favorite aunt and grandmother. Her hobbies included gardening and outdoor activities, and also loved shopping and piddling around. Her church membership was held at Gods House Baptist Ministry in Roanoke. Preceding her in death were her parents, Abram and Mary Lee Clark; husband, Gary Owen Kingery; and son, David Kingery. Her surviving family includes a son, Dino Kingery; daughters, Melissa Kingery and husband, Shane VanValkenburg, and Cindy Miller and husband, Jim; brother, Abram Clark, Jr. and wife, Susie; sisters, Kathleen Bryant and husband, Arnold, Reba (DaPhine) Price, Martha Jackson and husband, Jimmy, Lois St.Clair and husband, Steve, Abby Holmes, Carmie Womack, Jean Cofer and husband, Leonard, Debbie Walker and husband, Kenny, and Tammy Scott and husband, Denny; grandchildren, David Alan Joseph, John Carl Tyler, Sierra Dawn Breeze, and Toni Lee Evelyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and loving dog, Little Dog. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will then be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. at the Ridgedale United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chatham Hill.
