Sherman Johnny Statzer

Sherman Johnny Statzer, 71, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was a veteran having served in the US Army, and retired from Yokohama after over 30 years of service. He loved all sports, including NASCAR, and was well known and loved by all of Salem. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Andrew and Anna Mae Statzer. His surviving family includes his children, Stacy Statzer and wife, Vicky, and Mark Statzer; grandchildren, Sierra Statzer and Dawn Woolwine; siblings, Robert Statzer and wife, Edna, Dana Sullins, and Joyce Cornet and husband, Terry; ex-wife, Sue Sink; and numerous nieces and nephews. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will then be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11 a.m., also in the chapel. Interment with military funeral honors will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
