Sarah Abbott Wheeler

Sarah A. Wheeler, 86, of Salem, Va., passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Roland M. Wheeler; her son, Daniel (Cindy); and her granddaughters, Cassaundra and Madilyn.

Sarah worked for more than 20 years at Virginia Tech in the College of Engineering as an Undergraduate Advisor. She loved her work and the students she advised and supported. Sarah was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She loved nothing more than vacationing at the beach soaking up the sun and enjoying the salty air. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy for caring so much for Sarah in her time of need and for being her friend.

All are invited to celebrate Sarah's life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. A period of visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Don McKinney will officiate.
