Sara A. Cain, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at Brandon Oaks following a period of declining health. She was born in Bledsoe County, TN, a daughter of the late James Monroe Austin and Mary Cagel Austin and was reared in Pikeville, TN. She had also resided in Parris Island, SC; Washington, DC and Jasper, TN prior to locating to the Roanoke area in 1999 following the death of her husband, Bill, who died in 1997. She was employed as a secretary with the Federal Government for over thirty-eight years before retirement. Her cheery disposition, kind words, loving heart and enduring faith will leave memories and a legacy to be carried on by the next generation. She is survived by a son, J. Austin Cain of Salem; daughter Candace D. Robertson and her husband Dan of Bethesda, MD; three grandchildren, William A. Cain, Neil K. Cain and Tamara Switalski; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Brook Switalski, and a sister, Winona Dill. Following services in Jasper, TN, she will be interred next to her loving husband Bill at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
