Sandra States Jefferson, 81, of Salem, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 27, 2025. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on December 25, 1943, to the late Ed and Mabel States. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Jefferson; her sisters, June Morton and Lorraine Carter; and her brother, Don States.
She is survived by her children, Matt Jefferson and Melissa Weikle (Hunter); grandchildren, Trevin and Tristan Weikle; siblings, Buddy States (Mary Ellen), Anna Vest (Lewis), and Pat Gose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastor Steve Parker officiating. A private inurnment will be held for the family at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
