Born and raised in Marion, VA, she graduated from Marion Junior College as valedictorian of her class. She moved with her husband to Salem where they owned and operated Hash Grocery for 50 years. In Salem, she and Avery wanted to be part of a Christian community and found that in the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. She thanked God every day for her many blessings and the continued friendships of her church family. In 2006 she moved to Springfield, VA to live with her daughter and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Martin Hash, Sr., her devoted husband of 52 years. Surviving are her two children, son, Avery (Marty) M. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sunrise of Springfield for the special care extended to our loved one during her residency since 2009. Her Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church in Salem, VA with Pastor Ben Lockhart officiating.
