Ruth Sturgill Hedge, 70, of Salem, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 09, 2014 after a courageous battle of one and a half years with brain cancer. She will join her parents Marvin and Mary Perdue, and daughter and son-in-law Kim and Rick Najum. Family and friends left to cherish her memory includes her Loving husband, Dallas G. Hedge, Sr.; two daughters, Becky Enzor and Allison Sturgill; step-son, Dallas (Glen) Hedge, Jr. and wife, Carmen; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special nephew and niece, Daryl and Marlene Beckner; special friend since childhood, Suzanne Brown Watts; and her special and loving dog, (Baby). Ruth was a graduate from Andrew Lewis High School; class of 1962. She was a dedicated member of Community Church in Salem, and loved her church family. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving Wife and Mother, and a friend to all who knew her. The family would like to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice and South Roanoke Nursing Home for all the love and care given to Mrs. Hedge. A memorial service to honor Mrs. Hedges life will be conducted on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tom McCracken and Pastor Dan Carawan officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 pm on Saturday in the chapel.
