Ruth Ray Beamer

Ruth Ray Beamer, 82, of Salem, VA, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017. Born March 19, 1935 in Shreveport, LA, she was the wife of the late James M. Beamer and daughter of the late Gladys Ray and Chester Ray. Ruth and Jim were married for 55 years. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Beamer Duvall and her husband, Stephen R. Duvall; and grandson, Ryan Jefferson Henderson all of Hilton Head Island, SC; son, Steven Mitchell Beamer, of Davidson, NC; and sister, Josephine Ray Waller of Shreveport, LA. In addition to taking great care of her family, Ruth was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, volunteered at art museums, loved to travel, had wonderful style, and was an avid reader. She was blessed with many loving friends in Roanoke, Chicago, Baltimore and Shreveport; she made good friends wherever she went. Ruth was a beautiful, loving mother, wife and friend and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 12th, 2017 at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in Roanoke, VA.
