Russell Gene Mitchell, 76, of Roanoke, VA passed away Monday, January 03, 2011. He was born November 26, 1934 in Roanoke, VA a son of the late David E. and Mary Love Wood Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a US Army Veteran and retired from Western Electric. He is survived by two brothers, Robert Mitchell and Freeman Mitchell; sister, Mary Sheets; and special friends and caretakers, Ed, Joyce and Scott Donoho. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Dan Netting officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 4 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Christian Church, Salem. John M.
