Roy Winford Lucas

Roy Winford Lucas gained his wings and went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lucas; son, Timothy Patrick Lucas, his parents, Robert and Zuey Dickerson Lucas; sister, Kathy; big brother, Billy Cunningham Sr. Left to honor and cherish his memory is his special sister-in-law, Lora Cunningham; nieces, Susan Sweet Sue Orange, Ashley Princess Tinsley (Adam Sr.), Rhonda Smith (Larry), Jen Cyrus; nephews, Lynn Cuz Thornhill (Missy), Billy Cunningham Jr. (Elizabeth); and numerous cousins; special buddies, Adam Lee II, James Allen, Abigail and Trey that spent many hours listening to adventure stories and his wonder woman Donna Lazenby. He loved his paw buddies Ellie May, Milo, and many friends at The Feinour Center. Roy was in the Navy and enjoyed his time there but left the Navy to go to Ferrum College as well as Virginia Tech where he played football. After graduating from both colleges, he returned to the Navy as an officer and was a part of the Underwater Demolition Specialist Team. He loved his country and was very proud to serve. He enjoyed watching football, he was a huge Hokie fan as well as Notre Dame and Green Bay Packers. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
