Rosetta 'Pat' Nixon

Rosetta Pat Nixon, 92, of Salem, VA went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 3, 2011. She was born January 5, 1919 in Floyd County, VA daughter of the late Ellis and Laura Hilton Bolt. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Harry Harmon Nixon; granddaughter, Carol Renee Manuel; siblings, Elmer Bolt, John Bolt, Ward Bolt, Taft Bolt, Lonnie Bolt, Ora Price, Estelle Powers and Delia Shepard. Mrs. Nixon retired from Leggetts with fifteen years of service and enjoyed sewing. She is survived by her children, Donald H. Nixon and wife, Peggy, and Joyce Manuel and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Manuel, Charles R. Heslep III, Kimberly D. Bratton and husband, Paul, and Robyn M. Rader and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Blaine Manuel, Ericah Nicole Manuel, Maegan Bratton, Morgan Bratton, Hayley Rader, Nicholas R. Heslep, and Matthew C. Heslep; special one who was like a great-granddaughter, Maddy Kanode; sisters, Edna Pugh and Odell Perdue; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Brian Gordon officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to send a special thanks to The Glebe, Salem Terrace and to the doctors and nurses of Lewis-Gale Medical Center MICU and SICU for their wonderful service and loving care.
