Rosemary Shannon, 75, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem.
She was born November 15, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late John R. Shannon and Edith Kreinheder Shannon and had been a Roanoke Valley resident most of her life. Rosemary was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the choir and served as a Stephens Minister. She entered into business with her mother Edith, who was the owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in downtown Roanoke. They relocated the studio to the Tanglewood Mall over forty years ago, where it remains active under the ownership of friend and associate, Diane Tuttle. Rosemary is fondly remembered by current and former employees, as well as her many loyal customers. She had a wonderful smile, sense of humor, and a loving and helpful heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Shannon, a sister, Anne Shannon Jackson, and her aunt, Loretto Shannon.
She is survived by nephews, Mike Shannon, Chip Jackson and John Jackson and their families; as well as nieces Pam Shannon, Cathy Taylor and Linda Wilson and their families. She will be greatly missed by close friends, Diane Tuttle, Charles Fogus, and Camilla and Johnsey Cabaniss.
Many thanks to the prior and current staff of Four-West Memory Care, and Four-East, at the Richfield Recovery and Care Center for the tender watchful care Rosemary received for the past five and one-half years. Their love and support of Rosemary is very much appreciated by her family and friends.
