Rosemary (Rose) Thompson Dodge, 84, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She was a member of Grandin Court Baptist Church. Rose was a 50-year member of the Order of the Amaranth and also a member of Salem Chapter 161 Order of the Eastern Star. Rose was a wonderful cook, enjoyed making quilts, and lived her life as Gods child. Preceding her in death were her parents, John Floyd and Stella M. Britt Thompson; brothers, Cecil Thompson, Earl Thompson, Raymond Thompson Sr., Russell (Buddy) Thompson, and Curtis Thompson; sister, Gladys Hannah and husband, Keith; and grandson, Duane M. Perdue. Her surviving family includes her loving husband of 62 years, M. Frank Dodge; children, Deborah (Dee) Perdue and husband, Quince, Donald A. Dodge Sr. and wife, Cathy, David W. Dodge and wife, Mia, and Dawn D. Redden and husband, Dalton; sister, Lourine Davis; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Kier officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roses name may be made to either the Juvenile Diabetes Association at 26 Broadway in New York, NY 10004 or to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Road in Roanoke, VA 24018.
