Ronald Stuart Ward

Ronald S. Ron Ward, 79, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015. A native and lifelong area resident, Ron was born on June 27, 1936, the son of the late Ed and Elsie Ward. He was an active member and Deacon at the First Baptist Roanoke Church, loved all sports and was an avid fisherman. Ron never met a stranger and was always willing to help others in any way he could. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Loretta Harris Ward; three sons, Ronald Jr. Rooney, Bill and Darrell Ward; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Chapel of John M. Okaey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Revs. Bobby Pickle and Dave Peterson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5PM. Memorial contribution in Rons memory may be made to First Baptist Roanoke Church 515 3rd Street SW Roanoke, VA 24016.
