Ronald Thomas Humphries, 64, of Salem, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 4, 2016. Ronnie loved his family with all his heart and will be greatly missed. He was a generous and caring man, always lending a helping hand to friends and family. He was a graduate of Radford High School and New River Community College. He was proud to be a founding member of the MDA Car Show and spent many years as a crew chief on a local race team. More importantly, he loved the Lord with all his heart and served as a Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School and was very active in his church and beyond. Ronnie was an employee in the Calibration Lab at General Electric for 26 years before starting his own business in the calibration field. He was co-owner of Instrument Calibration and Technical Services for 12 years before his retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, restoring his 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, and spoiling his grandson, Ethan, who he cherished and adored. Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emmett and Grace Alderman; and parents, Omar and Thelma Humphries. He leaves behind the love of his life of 43 years, Pamela Ann Humphries; his daughter, Kimberly; son-in-law, Jared; and his grandson, Ethan. Also surviving is his aunt, Edith Bowman and her spouse, Woodie; and several cousins. The family would like to send special thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and medical staff at Lewis-Gale Medical Center for their care, expertise, and the love they showed him and our family during this time. Rons celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church with Hilton Jeffreys officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Bethel Baptist Churchs Building Fund at 1601 Colorado Street in Salem, Va. 24153.
