Ronald Stuart Holasek, 82, died on Monday, May 25, 2015. He was born in Minneapolis, Minn. and graduated from Eden Prairie High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his Masters Degree from the University of Southern California. Ron was a LTC, US Army (retired). He served 2 tours in Vietnam. His Army career also included being an experimental test pilot. He continued that passion at Sikorsky Aircraft, doing development work on the MH-53 E and experimental work on the XH-59A. He was an active member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish at Smith Mountain Lake, VA and also enjoyed volunteering at the Lion's Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2008 for dedicated humanitarian service. He is survived by his lovely wife, Audrey, his partner of 59 years; his daughter, Beth Borchelt and her husband, Fred; his son, Bryan Holasek and his wife, Patty; and his 4 grandchildren, Stephen, Sarah, Ryan, and Ethan who were his pride and joy. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Trinity Ecumenical Parish in Moneta. A service of interment will take place at a later date at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Trinity Ecumenical Parish 2nd Floor Completion Fund at 40 Lakemount Drive in Moneta, Va. 24121-1915 or the Smith Mountain Lake Lions Club scholarship fund at PO Box 655 in Hardy, Va. 24101-0655.
