Roger Wayne Light

Roger W. Light, 62, of Salem, VA passed away Friday, June 14, 2024. He was born to parents James Wiley Light and the late Loretta Kesler Light in Roanoke, VA on Friday, March 9, 1962. Roger was a former Salem High School football player and a passionate sports fan. Some of his favorite teams included the Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, Washington Nationals, and the Hershey Bears. However, he strongly disliked the Dallas Cowboys and The Pittsburgh Penguins. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Allie Kesler, William & Hazel Light, and brother Richard Light. Those left to cherish Rogers memory include his son, Dr. Travis Light; brother, Randall Light; girlfriend, Cathy Lumpkin and best friend Norman Russell. Per his wishes, family members and friends will gather on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at his favorite place All Sports Caf in Salem in his honor. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team (except for the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Penguins). There will also be a second gathering on Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 234 Fort Lewis Boulevard, Salem, Va.
