Robert Jackson (Jack) Shelor, 93, of Salem, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Jack enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife, Madeline, of 64 years. He was a WWII veteran that participated in landing at Utah Beach in Normandy just a week after D-Day, also receiving several battle stars. A Salemite all his life, Jack retired as a director for the citys utility billing.
Jack was born to the late Emmett and Irene Shelor on September 19, 1922. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Madeline Shelor; and brothers, Harold Shelor and wife, Doris, Frank Shelor and wife, Jean, and Harvey Shelor. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Wayne Shelor and Sherman Shelor and wife, Betty; sisters-in-law, Hazel Shelor and Patsy Shelor; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved.
A period of visitation will be held from 6 until 8p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
