Robert Bennett Lemon, 80, of Salem, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015. He was born on September 11, 1934 to the late Robert Jackson Lemon and Helen Updike Davis. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Shell.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Hill Lemon; 2 nephews; a very devoted sister-in-law, Alma Hill; and special friends, Elaine Carver, and Rev. J. David and Cheryl Rorer.
His interests were many, but above all was collectible cars, Nascar, hunting, fishing, archery, and his home.
He was a proud member of the 29th Division Post 64. He had also been an active member of Hollins Road Church of the Brethren for many years. He valued his friends at Eternal Hope Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 10 until 11 a.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke.
