Robert Gilbert Bob Kelley, 92, of Salem, VA, passed away on February 1, 2013. He was born in Lynn, MA, on April 9, 1920 to Ethel Brown Kelley and Maurice Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was preceded in death by his wife Thora June Judy Kelley, his daughter Lynne Kelley Lewicki, and his siblings Beatrice, Maurice, Ruth, and Richard. He leaves behind his daughter Nancy Kelley Estey; grandson Chris Estey of Charlottesville, VA; granddaughter Kelley Estey Denny of Herndon, VA, and great-granddaughters Vivian and Lauren Denny.
One of Bobs proudest achievements was being a seventeen-year old right fielder on East Lynns American Legion Junior Baseball team that won the 1937 Little World Series in New Orleans. This led to a short stint in the minor leagues, playing for a farm team of his treasured Boston Red Sox. After service in the US Air Force, Bob spent most of his working life at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Corp.; retiring as Assistant Chief of Vendor Quality Control. He and Judy moved from Manchester, CT and spent their retirement years as active members of golfing communities in Farmington Woods, CT, and Carolina Trace, NC. When not working around the house, Bob could always be found on or near the golf course.
The family will celebrate Bobs life privately, and he will be buried in the Kelley family cemetery plot in Rowley, MA.
