Robert Gail "Bob" Flowers

Robert Bob Flowers, 81, of Salem, VA, went to be with the Lord and joined his wife and daughter in heaven on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was born on Tuesday, September 24, 1940, to the late Charles and Helen Flowers. Bob was a hard worker and he loved his family! He was an avid hunter and fisher; and enjoyed camping with his family. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a mechanic and retired from Magic City Ford. In addition to his parents, he was greeted in heaven by the love of his life, his wife, Joyce Myers Flowers; his daughter, Helen Marie Kennedy; brothers, Chuck Flowers, and his wife, Belle, and Jim Flowers and his wife, Ruth; one sister, Anna May. He is survived by his daughter, Joyce Flowers Taylor and her husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Jennifer Flowers, Justin Flowers, Jonathan Kennedy, Luke Taylor, Katelyn Graham, and Joshua Graham; great-grandchildren, Jakob Palmer, Adam Palmer, Riley Flowers, and Maggie Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews, and one special person who was like a daughter to him. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, VA. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army. Friends may visit with the family from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
