Mickey Robert Michael Apgar, 77, of Elliston, went to celebrate with Jesus in Heaven on Friday, December 23, 2016.
He was a 1958 graduate of Shawsville High School and was employed at several places including his family owned Sunset Service center, Moores Lumber, and Richfield Nursing Home. His hobbies included fixin stuff, yard selling, auctions, gardening, and helping others. Mickey was a lifetime member of Lafayette United Methodist Church, and he loved spreading Gods Word.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Robertson and Hazel Shelor Apgar.
His surviving family includes his brothers, Fred I. Apgar and wife, Jan, and Don D. Apgar and wife, Millie; sister, Ruth Glock; wife of 55 years, Charlotte Richardson Apgar; children, Donna A. Blankenship and husband, James, and Gregory M. Apgar and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Robert Curtis Apgar, Jessica Apgar, Nicole Blankenship, Eric Blankenship and wife, Chelsea, and Melissa May and husband, Jake; and great-grandchildren, Landon and Laikan May.
The family extends sincere thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care.
A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Mickeys funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, also in the chapel, with Rev. Jeane Dunkum officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
