Richard "Ric" Louis Stverak

Richard Louis Stverak, 60, of Roanoke, Virginia, but formerly of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 4, 1964, to the late Robert and Roma Trumpauskas Stverak, he is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Judith Doggett Davis.

Ric moved to Salem with his family when he was very young, graduated from Salem High School, and studied at Mary Washington College. He worked as a plant manager for the Lebanon Seaboard Corporation in Salem, Va. Ric enjoyed many genres of music and played both the clarinet and the bassoon. He greatly enjoyed the coast and surf fishing. He enjoyed playing golf and watching international soccer, cheering loudest for Paris Saint Germain and Borrussia Dortmund . Ric studied Astronomy as a hobby and enjoyed being able to recognize and distinguish the constellations. He loved good food and spending time cooking together with his wife. Ric was a "huge car guy" and loved everything automotive, especially tinkering with and helping friends and family with minor repairs and maintenance. He was fascinated by new technology and was not at all intimidated by computing in this digital age. Ric loved the movies and was well-read, his favorite book being, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, from which comes his favorite quote, "So long and thanks for all the fish."

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Michelle Stverak; sisters, Sylvia Stverak Pruden and husband, David and Lisa Stverak and partner, John Simpkins; sisters in law, Catherine Davis and Kymberleigh Ricketts and husband John; nieces, Lauren Peters, Regina Pruden; nephews, Robert Pruden and Barrett Ricketts, and cousins. Daina and Rima Puodziunas.

The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, for a time of visitation in the Upper Parlor of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
