Richard S. Schifanelli

Richard S. Schifanelli, 85, of Salem, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born January 10, 1929 to the late Alfonso and Rose Rosati Schifanelli. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Schifanelli. He served his country in the Marine Corps, where he was also a member of the Marine Corps band. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, and retired at age 84 from Roanoke city schools as a teaching assistant. He was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Family left to cherish his memory include his son, Andy Schifanelli and wife Marisa; daughter, Karen Bolton and husband Rich; grandchildren, Sarah Gray and husband Jeremiah, Jennifer Bolton, Andy Love and wife Vicky, Meghan Bolton and boyfriend Robbie Dennis, Rebecca Schifanelli, and Ryan Schifanelli; great-granddaughter, Josie Gray; and favorite student, Noah Brown. A memorial service to honor Richards life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Lane officiating.
