Richard A. Buddy Hall, 81, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Vinton, a son of the late Alton and Kathryn Kingery Hall and had been an area resident all of his life. A United States Army veteran, he was employed as a brakeman with Norfolk and Southern Railroad for over thirty years before retiring. He was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bobby Hall, and a grandson, Jason Henry Hall. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Smith Hall; a son, Henry Hall and his wife Barbara; step-son, Sheldon Pete Smith and his wife Carolyn; sister-in-laws Marie Hall, Margaret McGuire and her husband Mike, Joan Joann Thomas and her husband Charlie Junior; grandchildren, Brian Hall, Scott Smith and his wife Melissa, Tommie Smith and Shane Smith; a special granddaughter, Tami Kuehn and her husband Al, as well as four great-grandchildren, Allyson & Hannah Kuehn, Nicole Smith and Keelyn Hall. A graveside service will be held at 1PM, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Roy E. Kanode will officiate. Military honors will be afforded by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. An online guest book is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
