Richard Lee Cox

Richard Lee Cox, age 56, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2011. Mr. Cox was born on January 26, 1955 in Roanoke, Va. He was a devoted member to his family at First Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem, where he will be missed. He was an avid follower of the Pride of Salem Marching Band for many years, and of the Salem Spartans. For the past year he enjoyed time with Peanut, his constant companion. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy Abbott Cox. Surviving him include his Wife, Carol J. Cox; Son, Richard Harley Cox; Daughter, Amanda Carol Cox; Sister, Brenda Jennings, & Husband Don; Sister-In-Law, Sharon Nichols, & Husband Glenn; Aunt, Jean Lyle, and numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11 a.m., at the First Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem, with Pastor Brian Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home.
