Richard Haag Booze passed away peacefully on August 17, 2015 at home after a brave and extended fight against ALS. He was dearly loved by his family and his many friends and coworkers. Ricky was Salem Born and Salem Bred, and created many memories with long time friends in Langhorne Place. Ricky was born to the late Frank H. Booze, Jr. and the late Eleanor Haag Booze on March 27, 1956. Ricky was a graduate of Andrew Lewis, Ferrum College, Radford University, Med Tech School at Community Hospital and a proud Eagle Scout. As Ricky continued his tenure of 36 years at Carillion/Quest Lab he became his students favorite teacher and loved his co-workers and students like they were family. Ricky was astounded by how his co-workers, friends, and family responded to his illness with kindness and grace. Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Ginger K. Booze; their daughter, Katie Booze Besche; son in law, Anthony Besche; and two beautiful grandchildren, Jillian and Camden Besche. Ricky was the best friend anyone could ask for. He remained faithful to family and friends throughout his entire life no matter what the circumstance. He thought dearly of everyone he met. Ricky was one of kind and he made everyone around him feel welcome, which was one of his most cherished traits. Ricky is proceeded in death by his father, Frank H. Booze, Sr.; mother, Eleanor H. Booze; and brother, Frank H. Booze, III. Memorial Services will be conducted at Ridgewood Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to one of Rickys favorite charities, the SPCA of Roanoke or The ALS Foundation.
