Renie Erthyl Hunt

Renie Erthel Hunt, 98, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Born in Carroll County, Virginia on February 9, 1924, to the late Richard Canary and Gathie Newman Alley, Renie is also preceded in death by a brother, Melburn Alley and twin siblings, Earl Alley and Pearl Alley Graham. Those blessed to have known Renie will remember that she was spirited and fiercely independent. She raised three children as a single mother without an apology nor complaint. Renie loved mountain music and greatly enjoyed attending blue grass festivals with her friends. Most Saturday nights she could be found at Pine Spur, dancing the night away. She was full of spunk and grit and continued to drive independently until she was 93! She was greatly loved and will be so very missed. Those left to cherish her memory and her sons, Lance (Shirley) Hunt and Larry Hunt; daughter, Freida Hubbard; grandchildren, Matthew (Gina) Hunt and Maegan (Emmanuel) Gahima; great-grandchildren, Madison Hunt, Owen Gahima, Aliyah Gahima, and Ian Gahima; as well as a special friend, Shirley Hylton. Per Renies request, all services will be private.
