Rebecca Fay 'Fazer' Mahone

Rebecca Fay Mahone (Fazer), 64, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015. She was born on December 20, 1950 to the late Roy and Pearl Mitchell Dodson in Welch, WV. Rebecca was employed with the Roanoke County Circuit Court as a deputy clerk with 28 years of dedicated and faithful service. She was an active and faithful member of Gospel Baptist Church in Salem. She was a very selfless person; someone that would help anyone in need. She had a deep love for cats, big and small, and absolutely loved children. Rebecca enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and loved the beautiful colors they produced each year. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Ray Dodson and her sister, Alice Hagerman. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her husband of 44 years, Frederick (Fred) Mahone; son, William Mahone; and her loving cat, Molly. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Pastor Sam Huntley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animals of Assisi; 415 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.
