Raymond Gene Pingle, 84, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was born in Flint, MI in 1928 to the late Lester W. and Dora Pingle. After high school, Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Genesse Masonic Lodge in Flint, MI. In 1955, Raymond and his beloved wife, Mary C. Watts Pingle, moved to the Roanoke Valley where the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May. Raymond was a member of Cave Spring Methodist Church and made his living as an cost accountant at General Electric. Raymond enjoyed playing golf and was a master when it came to card games of all kinds. Along with his beloved wife, Raymond is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Kittie Pingle Gillock and her husband, George Lee, and Elizabeth Beth Pingle Poff and her husband, James R. He is also survived by one sister, Patricia S. Pingle, of San Francisco CA. A memorial service to honor the life of Raymond Gene Pingle will take place at 1:00PM on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
