Raymond A. Patteson

Raymond A. Patteson, 69, of Roanoke, peacefully went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 25, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frances Patteson; step-mother, Dot Patteson; and step-sister and brother, Barbara White and Steven Bowles. Raymond was born on April 7, 1947. He graduated from Narrows High School in 1965, after which he attended VPI and Virginia Western Community College. Employed with General Electric in Salem, Raymond was a Gas Turbine Technician for 12 years and a Software Specialist for 18 years before retiring in 2003. Raymond was very active in his church, Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. Family left to cherish his memory include his siblings, Carlene Blankenship (Harold) of Elliston, Leah Patteson of Richmond, and Alinda Parcell (Jerry) of Vinton; step-son, Tony Turner, of Florida; step-siblings, Rick Bowles, Debbie Lewis, and Glen Bowles; nieces and nephews, James Blankenship (Melissa), Andrew Blankenship (Danielle), Crystal Epperly (Mike), Jerry Parcell, Jr., Christy Sink (Robbie), Stephen Parcell (Dawn), and Jesse Parcell (Vanessa); and numerous aunts, uncles, and great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor Raymonds life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke, with Rev. A.C. Hollins, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shenandoah Baptist Church (6520 Williamson Rd, Roanoke, VA 24019).
