Raymond 'Alley Cat' Alley

Raymond Greg 'Alley Cat' Alley, 53, of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010. He was born on April 21, 1957, a son of Doris West of Elliston and the late Clarence B. Alley. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Corbett and Rosie R. Jones, and a brother, Thomas Alley. A veteran of the US Army, Greg was employed at Innovative Electrical Systems as a welder, a passion and occupation he loved for over thirty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was fascinated by and loved Indian lore. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiance, Sonya Marshall; two sons, Adam Alley, and Brandon Alley and his wife Jessie; daughter Abigail Alley; two brothers, Rick Alley and Jerry West; two sisters, Rosa Davis, and Linda Leary and her husband Henry, a grandson, Blake Alley, special sister-in-law, Joanie Alley and numerous nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Tuesday at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with Rev.
