Ray Atkins

Ray Atkins, age 69 of Salem, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011. He was born on September 25, 1941 to the late Willard Jackson Atkins, & Grace Gantt Atkins. He was a faithful and active member of Our Lady Of Nazareth Catholic Church, and a previous member of The Knights of Columbus. He was also a very dedicated and faithful employee of Valleydale Foods where he will truly be missed by many co-workers, as well as clients he served. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Tomes. He was survived by his loving wife, Kathy Atkins; two sons, Mark Atkins, & wife Clori, and Kirk Raymond Atkins; one daughter, Kelly Stallard, & husband Dipper; four grandchildren, Taylor & Jake Atkins, and Cody & Parker Stallard; His faithful dog, Sammie, and a dear friend, Jamie Boston, & wife Lisa. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, with Father Joe Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 6, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem.
