Ralph William Jackson Hagy, 79, of Salem, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011.
He was born in Tazwell, a son of the late Floyd and Laura Keesee Hagy and had also resided in Bedford prior to locating to the Roanoke area in 1968. He was employed for many years as a commercial roofer with Leonard Smith Sheet Metal and Roofing prior to retiring and enjoyed singing and playing the harmonica.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Wheeler Hagy; three sons, Ralph Eddie Hagy and his wife Wanda, Douglas Hagy and his wife Stormy, and Alven Hagy; two daughters, Cynthia Beard, and Teresa McLellan and her husband Bob; a brother, Alfred Hagy and his wife Helen; a sister, Mabel Thompson; his first granddaughter, Jessica Dilcher and her husband Mike; first grandson, Christopher Todd Hagy; 11 additional grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at East Hill Cemetery in Salem. Chaplain Dave Vanderpool will officiate.
