Rabie Livingston Moran, Jr., 90, of Salem, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. R.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith Moran; parents, Rabie L. and Nannie Clyde Moran; sister, Doris Moran Sawyer and her husband, Lonnie; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jimmy Goodykoontz. His surviving family includes his son, Ronald Moran and wife, Trina; daughter, Malinda Rivers and husband, Walt; grandchildren, Travis Rivers and wife, Cheryl, Devin Rivers and fianc, Richard, and Jill Moran; and great-grandchild, Preston Rivers. The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A service praising God for the gift of life and the gift of eternal life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in the funeral homes chapel. An interment will follow at Church Hill Cemetery in Salem. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to either the Fort Lewis Christian Church at 2931 West Main Street in Salem, Va. 24153 or to the Salem Museum at 801 East Main Street in Salem, Va. 24153.
