Phyllis Blankenship Reese, 65, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
She was born in Roanoke County, a daughter of the late Crockett J. and Dorothy Ulrey Blankenship and had been an area resident all of her life. She attended Fellowship Community Church and enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, especially at Christmas and for which she received numerous awards from the City of Salem.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband and constant companion of 45 years, Ralph L. Reese; two daughters, Carol Reese Walker and her husband Randy, Lorrie Reese; two grandchildren, Jonathan Wills and Lynnmarie Reese; two sisters, Dorothy Dickerson and her husband Charles, and Patricia Worrell and her husband Joe; two brothers, Melvin Blankenship and his wife Mary, and Donald Blankenship and his wife Nancy; numerous nieces and nephews, her loving pups, Rocko and Choco, and very special friends Jane, Christina and Sarah.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Pastor Ken Nienke will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
