Phyllis M. Grinnell

Phyllis M. Grinnell 55, of Salem, passed away on Friday May 24, 2013, she was born in Salem, daughter of the late Ward Mills Sr., and mother Martha Mills. Phyllis was a life long Salem resident, she was known best for her loving and caring spirit, she was a true caregiver, she made all who knew her fell welcomed, you could always find her either in the garden tending to flowers, cheering on her favorite sporting team, at the beach in the sun, or in the kitchen cooking for the ones she truly loved, her family. Along with her father, she is preceded in death by, two brothers, Ward Mills Jr. and Benjamin Mills, and father-in-law, Douglas Grinnell Sr. Left behind to cherish her memories along with her mother are her loving husband of 36 years, Doug Grinnell, son, Eric Grinnell and his wife Emily, grand daughter, Madison Grinnell, three brothers, Dennis Mills; John Mills; and Kenneth Mills, two sisters, Nancy Wright and Esther Wilburn, mother-in- law, Betty Sue Grinnell, two brothers-in-law, Dean and Danny Grinnell, one sister-in-law Dawn Goodman. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday May 28, 2013 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, a funeral service to honor the life of Phyllis M. Grinnell, will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at 2 pm in the funeral homes chapel, with Pastor Jessie Bass and Terry Hall officiating, interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, in lieu of flowers, the family would like for you to consider making a contribution to, Angels of Assisi, 415 Campbell Ave SW Roanoke, VA 24016.
