Phillip Lynn 'Phil' Correll

Phillip L. (Phil) Correll, 64, of Salem, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was born on September 20, 1950 to the late Henry Grant and Mary Catherine Kennedy Correll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kay DAlessandro; and his favorite cat, Brat. Phil was a proud Virginia Tech alumnus and a knowledgeable military history enthusiast. He was an avid sports fan, especially for his Hokies. He loved his family and animals, and loved to cruise. He will be deeply missed. Family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Alice Ligon Correll; children, Colleen Catherine Correll and Paul Kennedy Correll and wife Linda; grandchildren, Alexandria Alexxus Matheney, Claire Kennedy Correll, and Daniel Frederick Correll; cousins, Joan Kennedy Dameron, James Kennedy, and Chuck Kennedy and Fay; and many lifelong friends. The family will receive friends Monday, June 22, 2015 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Phils life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church in Roanoke. Interment will follow at St. Andrews cemetery in Roanoke.
