Philip Henry Pete Peterson, Sr., 75, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Peterson; and mother, Melba Peterson.
Pete served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid Salem Spartans Football fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Day Peterson; daughter, Tina M. Wertz and husband, Steven; son, Philip Henry Peterson, Jr.; grandchildren, Erin M. Hale and husband, Rick, and Ethan G. Wertz; a future great-granddaughter; sisters, Mary Gaconi, Shirley Oestricher, and Sandra Readeau, all of Louisiana; and canine sidekick, Sophie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
