Peggy Jean Martin, 82, of Salem, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013. Peggy was born in Roanoke, the daughter of the late Matthew Jennings and Mable Bates Jennings where she has been a resident most of her life. She was a long time member of Salem Presbyterian Church and served there as a deacon along with other church activities. She enjoyed ceramics, cooking, reading, traveling with her husband, art, flowers, her dogs and loving and encouraging her family in every way possible.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 64 years, James M. Martin, two daughters, Teresa White, of Forest VA with her husband Jay, and Alaine Martin. She is also survived by four grandchildren, the joys of her life, Jaime Elisabeth Miller, and Susanna, Callie and Ean White.
An open house for the family to welcome friends will be held at their home on Dec. 20, 2013 from 2 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Angels of Assisi 415 Campbell Ave. SW Roanoke VA 24016.
