Pearl Raymond Shrum Jr (better known as 'Jon'), 84, of Salem, formerly of Grove City, Ohio, and Hendersonville, North Carolina, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 27, 2012. He was the son of the late Pearl R. Shrum Sr. and Anna C. Fleming Shrum. Pearl R. Shrum Jr. proudly served his country in the Korean War as a SSGT in the U.S. Air Force. He later began working as a self employed real estate broker in Grove City, Ohio and was a member of the Columbus (Ohio) Board of Realtors. He was also a member of the Grove City Masonic Lodge and a member of Triinity Lutheran Church, Fletcher, North Carolina. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Shrum and two sisters, Jessie Bradley and Violet Morton. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Delores A. Shrum, their son Thomas G. Shrum and his wife Dr. Mary Hamill of Willton, CT. and daughter Rebecca Hartman and her husband David of Roanoke, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. The family has been served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Salem.
