Pearl Thornhill DeHart, 84, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born and raised in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Virginia Thornhill and was baptized in the Brethren Church as a young girl. She retired from Tultex following many years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Elvin and Willie Thornhill, and by a sister, Hallie Thornhill Lee. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, James Jimmy DeHart; two children, Nancy DeHart Taylor and her husband Steve, and S. Wayne Dehart and his wife Denise; three grandsons that she loved very much, Donald Wayne DW Jennings, Christopher Wayne DeHart and Blake Louis DeHart; a special sister, Violet Thornhill Tyree; her sister-in-law, Deloris Koogler; brother-in-law, Clarence DeHart, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pearl lived a quiet and simple life. She loved visits from her kids and when her health permitted she enjoyed looking for trinkets with her metal detector in the company and fellowship of her sister, Violet. She enjoyed taking her kids skating when they were young, and outdoor picnics with family brought her great joy. Per her requests, all services will be private.
