Pauline Muncy Hoback, 90, of Roanoke, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 16, 2011.
She was born in Roanoke County, a daughter of the late Sidney Muncy and Delia Lawrence Muncy and had been an area resident for most of her life. She was employed for many years as a seamstress at Puritan Mills, and later was a Nursing Assistant at Friendship Manor. She was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, in Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Sheldon M. Poff and Vernon O. Hoback, as well as two sisters, Arietta Retta Holland and Mabel Beckner.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Decker and her husband Richard Dick Decker, Jr. of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Richard Chip Decker, III and his wife Marla of Richmond; Sharyn Pugh and her husband Chris and great-granddaughter, Catherine Pugh, all of Salem; and two very special friends, Stephen and Nancy Kessler of Roanoke.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for the kindness, care and love shown during her stay there.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2011 at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, January 21, 2011 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 845 Hemlock Rd., Salem, with the Revs. Tim Gearheart and Emory Tarpley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Calvary Child Care Center, 845 Hemlock Rd. Salem, VA 24153.
