Pauline T. Goode, 95, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Pauline was born in Roanoke County, a daughter to the late Edgar and Jemima Tate. As a lifelong area resident, she spent many years working as a seamstress at Salem Fast Service Laundry and Dry Cleaning and was a faithful member at the Green Hill Church of the Brethren where she served in the choir and on the Mami Kinzie Circle. She enjoyed gardening and was known to all as a great cook. Along with her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, George Kolmer Goode; and a daughter, Cheryl Ann Goode. Left here to cherish her memories are her daughter, Donna Goode; step-daughter, Carolyn Margaret Fleshman; grandchildren, Dexter Lynn Kingery, Jr. and Sharon Belue Boone and husband Benjamin; two step-grandchildren, Vanessa Fleshman Stewart, and Jay Fleshman; two great-grandchildren, Rowan Elizabeth Boone and Bronwyn Iris Boone; and two step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Stewart and Lauren Stewart Vazquez. A special thanks goes out to the Richfield nurses on 2 east for making her feel special, as well as the Lewis-Gale Medical Center staff on 5 West, and the Angels of Mercy at Good Samaritan Hospice. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, and a funeral service to honor the life of Pauline T. Goode will take place on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Green Hill Church of the Brethren with Rev. Shawn Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery, Salem.
