Patton Bernard Saul Md

Patton B. Saul, M.D., 67, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Elizabeth Saul, and Silas and Julia Bernard; parents, Robert Davidson and Elizabeth Bernard Saul; brother, Robert Davidson Saul, Jr.; and father-in-law, Robert Reed Martin. Pat proudly served as a Captain in the US Army in Panama from 1975 through 1978. He attended college and medical school at the University of Virginia, and completed his Gyn residency at UVA as well. His fellowship in Gyn Oncology was completed at M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX, where he continued on as a staff physician and professor. Returning to Roanoke in 1987, he started his private practice and then was a Gyn Oncologist at Lewis Gale for a total of 27 years. Additionally, he served as a medical director for Gentle Shepard Hospice. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke. Family left to cherish his memory include his wife, Susan Martin Saul; his son, Patton Reed Saul; mother-in-law, Dorothy Weaver Martin; brother-in-law, Robert Alan Martin; sister-in-law, Emily Epps Saul; nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends. A memorial service to honor his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in Faith Chapel at First Baptist Church in Roanoke. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Burial will be private at Sherwood Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by Dr. Bryan Smith and Dr. Charles Fuller. The family wishes to thank their numerous family and friends for their love and support. Pat loved you all. We would also like the entire staff at Lewis Gale to know that Pat cherished each and every friendship. It was also his honor and privilege to care for his patients.
