Ollie Mae Shupe Parker Lawson, 82, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Ollie was born on May 20, 1932 in Boissevain, Virginia, to the late Olen and Helen Shupe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Parker; sisters, Annie Nipper (Elwood) and Maggie Parker (Bill); brothers, Wallace Shupe (Charlotte), Olen Shupe, Jr. and Ervin Shupe; and brother-in-law, Rocky Dunahoe.
Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her husband and childhood sweetheart, Herbert Lawson; step-sons, Jeff Lawson (Crystal) and Kenny Lawson (Pat); brothers, David Shupe (Judy), Raymond Shupe (Dottie) and George Shupe (Helen); sisters, Shirley Hines (David) and Charlotte Dunahoe; grandchildren, Lindsay, Chris, Kasey, Tyler and Abriana; numerous nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Shupe and Eloise Shupe.
Her family would like to thank: Sheila Early, her special friend and driver; all of their friends at Salem Senior Citizen Center Bluegrass Music; their neighbors in Glenvar East; the residents and Staff at Salem Terrace; Dr. Bolin and Nurse Tamara Gilbert; Lewis-Gale MICU Staff and Hospitalists, Dr. Misra and Dr Ayichew; the entire staff at Salem Fresenius Dialysis Center; Pastor Brett Williams and Pastor Eddie Strickland from West Salem Baptist Church; and Linda Russell from WSBC, who visited and checked up on Ollie for many years.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2 until 4 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. No other services will be held per Ollies wishes.
