Ollie Mae Frye

Ollie Mae Frye, 95, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 4, 2026. Born in Smyth County Virginia on July 12, 1931, to the late William Marshall and Lula Coe Clapp, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Frye, Sr.; son-in-law, Dennis Morgan; sister, Ruth Chapman, and special friend and companion, Sam Pegram.

Mrs. Frye was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Roanoke, where she faithfully served and made lasting friendships. She was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Frye was a talented homemaker who enjoyed shopping, decorating and creating a warm, welcoming and beautiful home. She was a hard worker who did all that she could, for as long as she could, until she couldn't. 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Jack Frye, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Robyn Morgan and Jenny Booze and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Sara Gaines, Maggie Turner, Macey Sereno, and Sidney Kinney; great-grandchildren, Morgan Gaines, Brynn Wells, Lane Sereno, Jack Kinney and Scarlett Turner; as well as her sister, Barbara Jean Ewing. 

The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel; interment immediately following in Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Snyder Nursing Home and to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate care and loving kindness extended to both Mrs. Frye and to their family.
