Ocie Ann Minnix

Ocie Ann Minnix of Salem Va., passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was born on January 12, 1944, to the late Ina Ocie Smith and Charles Walter Ray Smith in Roanoke Va. In 1958, Ocie met and married her husband Carl Cliffton Minnix, and went on to have five children. Ocie raised her kids and the joy of her family; all her grandkids meant the world to her. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Carl Minnix; seven brothers; and one sister. Ocie is survived by her children, Vonda Lambert, Ina Headrick, Trenda Minnix, Brenda Minnix, and Walter Minnix; grandkids, Jody Lambert and wife, Sandra, Chris Headricks, Veronica Lambert-Switzer and husband, Trey, Ashley Woolwine, Andrew Minnix, Donnie Woolwine and Alisha Chandler and husband, Brennan; great-grandkids, JoJo Lambert, Christinia Kingery, Destiny Lambert, Joseph Lambert, Carlee Lambert, Johnathaon Lambert, Sean Headrick, Brianna Chandler, Caleb Irby, Caden Irby, Suvannah Sherr, Sebastian Sherr, Levi Trent Aryianna Trent, Cheyenne Weaver, Colton Woolwine; along with five great-great grandkids; brothers, Jack Smith and wife, Yolley, and Clarence Smith and wife, Charlotte. Other close family and friends are Joey Lambert; nephew, Wallie Smith; and close neighbors. The family would also like to thank ICU 7 at RMH, and Carilion Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va.
