Norma Williams

Norma Beth Cooper Williams, of Roanoke County, Va., went peacefully into the arms of Jesus, days after her 89th birthday on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Born on January 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Martha and Pete Cooper, Norma was known as "Little Pete" to those who knew her as a child.

She is survived by her husband, Charles "Bobby" Williams; daughter, Belinda Sowers; two sons, Robert and Freddy Brown; four sons by marriage, Jeff, Mark, Brian, and Michael Williams; spouses of all her children; and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma's relationship with Bobby encompassed a deeply devoted love that many long for in a marriage. She loved her Bobby, children, grandchildren, and family selflessly and unconditionally. Never aspiring for material things, she lived a humble life, full of prayer and gratitude. Most important above all to her was that her family know Jesus and share His love with others - always reminding us to "hold Jesus' hand and don't let go".

Also known as "Gold Granny," Norma was a busy body who loved to talk with people and always put her family first. As such a spirited woman, there was never a dull moment around her, and she created so many memories to be cherished.

Though our hearts ache from missing her, she is in Glory with Jesus, where she has longed to be. So, we rejoice for her in our sorrow, and openly welcome anyone who wishes to come celebrate her life and entrance into eternal glory.

Family and friends will be gathering to celebrate Norma on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. Viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Jesse Bass will officiate.
